approaching the “grapevine”

kiddies!
**disclaimer: potentially dangerous…do not attempt**

Really quickly (because it’s late and I’m tired)….we arrived safely.

The kiddies and I left yesterday at 10am and got to Brian and Grace’s (in Stevenson Ranch) by 2:30pm.
4 and a half hours…not bad.
I didn’t make any pit-stops….didn’t need to. Ashlyn listened to her music and watched “Barney” on DVD without a fuss and Summer slept the ENTIRE roadtrip! AMAZING!!! She finally roused when I was taking her out of the car. hehehe

Spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with Brian, Grace, and Brandon. We had a great time!

I left Stevenson Ranch around 10pm. Filled the tank and made my way home. I hit major traffic on I5 (near Garfield) due to an accident. What would normally take me and hour to get home, took an hour and 40 minutes because of the accident.

Homecoming was bittersweet. It was nice driving through the ‘hood, seeing familiar sights, and the thought of being “home”. At the same time, the house looks and smells different…and it doesn’t feel like “home”.
Perhaps it’s because Aric is not here. *SIGH*

Ashlyn fell asleep during the ride home and hasn’t seen a thing yet. But I’m sure she’ll wake later and remember this place…run to her room and celebrate her reunion with her toys, books, and other belongings.

This is Summer first time here. She stared at the recessed lighting in the living room, ooh-ed and ahhh-ed, and is now sleeping comfortably in Ashlyn’s old crib.

I stayed up to unload the car, unpack a bit, unwind and chat with my brother-in-law. His presence is comforting.

Damn, it’s late! I better go to bed or I’ll be hurtin’ in the morning!
