I haven’t been up to much this week….staying home every day…diligently trying to potty-train Ashlyn….totally losing my patience and temper. It’s so frustrating! I know she knows how. She just chooses not to. My desperation has even driven me to threats and bribery. Still she chooses not to. ![]()
I guess I just have to keep trying.
This week, the telly’s been constantly tuned to VH-1’s “I Love the 90’s”…because similar to loving the 80’s, I think I love the 90’s even more.
The 80’s brings back memories of childhood through high school. The 90’s remind me of unbridled college years and possibly the best times of my single life.
Where do VH-1 get their commentators? I love most of them (especially Michael Ian Black, Hal Sparks, and of course Jay & Silent Bob), but others…*hmmmm*…reality show veterans (Heidi Strobel, Bob Guiney, etc..). C’mon!…you’ve got to be kidding me. They’re not real celebrities. They don’t have star power. Nothing they say is funny, witty, or interesting. Shoooo, I might as well be on the show too!
Afterall, I’ve got a lot to comment on and add. For instance, I couldn’t believe Jodeci was NOT mentioned for 1992. WHAT?! It’s hard not to think back to that year every time I hear “Forever My Lady” or “Come and Talk to Me” . Dina, back me up on this.
I suppose they need to keep it mainstream…for folks in the midwest or something.

Tonight I had dinner with my family and some family friends. We went to Yuri (a nearby Japanese restaurant), sat in a tatami room, had dinner, and enjoyed each other’s company.
I realize that I’ve become a snob to certain restaurants. Especially towards Japanese cuisine. My palate has become very finicky…and it’s easy to distinguish authentic places from the cheesy ones. Tonight’s restaurant was the latter…it was apparent from something as simple as miso soup and california rolls. *shake head* Disappointing.
Other random thoughts:
- ant infestation has gotten worse at my parents’ house.
- McDonalds toys are far better in Taiwan than in the US.
- I love Kevin Lyttle’s current song and video (”Turn Me On”).
- I need to drink more water.
-”Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle” Sneak Peak tomorrow!
- Kiehl’s Lip Balm is the best.
- Summer had NO bowel movements for 2 days.
- My car needs an oil change and a carwash.
- Too many emails sitting in my inboxes that need responding.
- Ashlyn’s laugh resonates in my head and it always brings a smile to my face.
As you can tell my mind wanders a lot. That’s what happens when you sit home too long. hehehe

For the ants–Windex will stop them in their tracks, then get a whole bunch of those Raid Ant traps- they reall work! If all else fails, I hear something about putting vinegar and water or just plain vinegar at the source- “ant entrance”. My husband prefers the caulking method-I don’t think it works. I also like the vacuum method, that takes care of a whole bunch at one tmie, but you have to empty the bag outside right away.

my car is in dire need of a car wash too. inside AND out. so embarassing when someone sits in my car and does the finger test on my dash to see how thick the dust is on top.

The kiddies are so sweet together.
It was frustrating potty training Kayla. You just have to keep it up. Quick way is to not use pull-ups, just go to underwear and you can bribe her with ie. princess underwear. Bribing works on/off again but eventually it just works. It is very trying, dealing with stubborness & accidents. It will be a thing of the past someday.

We had an ant infestation not too long ago. A friend recommended Grants. What it does is attracts all the ants to eat the food, then they all go back to the colony and die. I swear to god this worked. The only thing is, you really gotta get out of the house for the day, because thousands of them come out at first to feast, but then they all disappear.
About summers bowel movement, Cayley had the same problem when she was little, you’ll be grossed out to hear that her parents had to use vasaline and fingers to help it come out, especially when she looks like she’s trying and turning all red and pushing and crying, but nothing. Hopefully that’s not the case and summer’s just not ready yet.

i agree with foggyknit. i finally changed aja to panties out of frustration and i wonder why i didn’t do it sooner. she’ll scream “SHI SHI” in the middle of dinner sometimes. a bit shocking for guests but damn…i’m relieved shes out of diapers.
maxattraxx traps work wonders for us. they all die within a day…sometimes in their tracks so we’ll see a whole line of dead ants leading up to the trap. hehehe

I’m the same with Japanese cuisine.. so far.. Kisaku still tops my list..
As for the ants.. We started getting little wanderers.. but I learned if you stop the “seekers” dead in their tracks they’ll disappear!

tee hee
Now I’ve got Come and Talk to Me going on in my head. Sadly I’ve only caught a few episodes of I love the 90s, even though it was my supposed “heyday”. What’s that one Japanese place in San Mateo that you swear by? I need to rear S away from Isobune!!! But then I should be so thankful that he’ll request that. Yeah the panties thing might help but good for you for trying to stay home and get her on it. You’ll be happy to have at least one baby out of diapies!!! Only thing is when you’re out… woo boy I remember how difficult it was to get J to use bathrooms that weren’t at home. He didn’t learn to pee standing up til a year and a half AFTER potty training.
