We had a really fun and full weekend. It’s great to have Aric back! The kiddies and I only have a little over a week’s time with him, so we’re cherishing every waking moment with him. 
So aside from this short post..I will not be updating again until after Aric leaves.

This is a quiet week, thus far. The kiddies and I spend all our days at home.
Friends always ask, “so, what have you been up to?”…in which I always answer, “nothing.” But I suppose that’s not entirely true.
Aside from watching and playing with Ashlyn and Summer, I’ve been trying to improving myself.
A couple of weeks ago, after a strangely emotional and tearful day, I realized that I had lost myself. Certain attributes that I considered my strengths had slowly disappeared. I lacked a sense of focus and independence. I was moody and emotionally fragile. Worst of all, doubt self-pity, unsubstantiated sadness, and insecurity ate away at me. What the hell happened?! It could be partially due to hormones and/or all the changes that occured this year (ie…moving around, living apart from my love, having a 2nd child, etc..)….I don’t know. I just knew that I needed to do something about it.
Changes don’t happen overnight…but I felt that once I acknowledged my weaknesses, a surge of empowerment returned. I’m still working through a lot of things, but I’m happy to say that in a week’s time, I’m in a much better place than before.
I am thankful for an awesome husband….no matter the distance/time difference, Aric patiently listens and helps comfort and support me. I am also thankful to be with my family…they have been wonderful. And my girlfriends…*sigh*…being in their company blesses me and is feelgood therapy.
Tonight Ashlyn and I (sans Summer) had dinner with Bett, Sarah, and Wil. As usual, our evening was filled with side-splitting laughter, sharing, stories, and lots of yummy food.
Other randomness:
- Ashlyn is on her way toward potty-training success! YAY!
- my hair is falling out by the handfuls. 
- my nieces started school this week.
- been having a string of really bad and weird customer service experience recently.
- Summer started laughing this week.
- 2 more days till Aric come back to visit. YAY!!! 
In the past couple of weeks, my sweet lil’ Summer has been perfecting her skill of rolling from her back to her side.
Over the weekend, she found herself successfully rolling from her back all the way onto her tummy. Each time she ends up on her tummy, she raises her head up high and smiles with excitement.
This new feat thrills her because she does it repeatedly….even in her sleep. Last night I was woken up twice (3am and 4:30am) by sounds of her frustrated grunting. I peeked into her bassinett and found her trying to roll over….her attempts futile by the obstruction of her sleep positioner.
Both times I had to soothe her back to sleep. I finally removed the sleep positioner from her bed, but I slept unrestfully all morning worrying about her possibly rolling onto her tummy and her airway getting smothered by the mattress or blanket.
Summer has also learned to roll from tummy onto her back again, but not as smoothly. Occassionally her arm postion prevents her from being able to roll back onto her back. I am proud and in awe of Summer’s achievement, but I worry about her safety. Ashlyn learned to roll at 6 months….but by then, I didn’t have to worry about her suffocating since she had better control of her head movements at that age.
I’m so not ready for her to be mobile yet. Can’t we just strap ‘em down? 
This is indicative of Summer’s strong personality…so determined and focused…so much so, it disrupts her otherwise peaceful slumber.
Aric will be very impressed. Hopefully she’ll sleep uninterrupted tonight and save her strength and energy to roll during waking hours. hehehehe
