The sisters are enjoying each other’s company (more or less)….Ashlyn more, Summer less.
Now that Summer is a little older, can sit up in her activity table, reach for, and hold things, Ashlyn is having a great time handing her things, slapping her high-fives, and grabbing her hands to dance together.

The daily interaction between the two are amusing:
Ashlyn likes to sing, dance, and entertain the baby. Summer usually stares with a blank expression.
Ashlyn enjoys holding up picture books, flipping the pages, and introducing colors, shapes, foods, and animals to the baby. Summer bounces with excited glee.
Ashlyn helps wipe drool from the baby’s chin. Summer tries to eat the burp cloth.
Ashlyn likes to tell secrets into the baby’s ear. Summer looks startled (I have to constantly remind Ashlyn that secrets are meant to be whispered and not loudly spoken into one’s eardrum). ![]()
Ashlyn loves getting in Summer’s face ALL THE TIME. Summer doesn’t like that….she’s recently retaliated by grabbing a fistful of hair or squeezing her big sister’s cheek. *ouch!*
And every once in a while I’ll catch them both laughing hysterically…each setting the other off for no reason whatsoever.

Though Summer likes her personal space, I do notice that her attention is always focused on Ashlyn.
And Ashlyn is an awesome big sister….always loving, helpful, sweet, and protective (a much better big sister than I ever was).
Summer’s still too young to really play with Ashlyn, but I see the developmental gap starting to come together.
