Every time Ashlyn spends a day with her grandfather and Netty, she always comes home with tons of goodies.
Aside from the usual candies, books, and toys, yesterday she came home with a clear plastic box containing 5 goldfishes!
Welcome to the family! Ashlyn named them: Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, and uh, Garfield. *scratch head* yeah, okay. hehehe
I hope they don’t go belly up before the end of the week. *cross fingers*

Friday night was spent hanging out with our friends at James and Grace’s. I brought the camera to get pictures of all the kids playing, but I forgot the CF card. Duh!
The rest of the weekend Aric and I kept busy unpacking. By Sunday, Aric did ALL the work after I came down with something awful.
I can’t believe I’m sick again! I’ve been sick off and on since the end of November…barely getting over the stubborn coughing part before catching something new. *UGH!* I heard it’s been going around, but we hardly get out enough these days to catch something. *tsk*
Lucky for us, my father-in-law and Netty took Ashlyn out all day yesterday…allowing Aric to watch only Summer as he unpacked. I slept most of the day away. I don’t remember the last time I got to do that. By evening, I felt a little better.
Out of 23 boxes, we have only 5 more to go! *YAY!*
Hope you had a good weekend!

Our shipment from Taiwan arrived bright and early this morning. 23 boxes total!
Big boxes, medium boxes, small boxes, long boxes, wide flat boxes…but mostly big bulky boxes.
All the boxes are labeled, so I opened a couple where I had allocated space for its contents…other than that, I spent most of the day just staring at the stacked boxes and shaking my head.
I’m losing my momentum. I’m feeling lazy and overwhelmed. I don’t know where to put everything (as every drawer, cabinet, closet, nook, and cranny is fully utilized). Keep in mind that my brother-in-law is living with us, and his stuff occupies our home as well.
Luckily for me, I have an awesome husband. As soon as Aric got home from work, he ordered pizza for dinner, unpacked some boxes, and entertained the kids in process. *swoon* We also set out a bunch of bags (old clothing, toys, and shoes) for donation to alleviate the clutter.
The rest of the evening was spent relaxing with the kids and watching TV.
I’m feeling so tired lately. Odd dreams consume my otherwise peaceful slumber, and Ashlyn’s recent separation anxiety has her sleeping on the floor in our room. It’s understandable…we’re all adjusting to our “new” environment. The only one who’s adjusted quickly is Summer. If anything, she seems completely happy and content.

Our weekend was eventful….running errands, visiting with in-laws and friends, and continuing to unpack and get settled.
The highlight of our weekend was getting together with our dear friends for a belated Christmas dinner/gift exchange at James and Grace’s. It was a delightful reunion…and I couldn’t get over how big all the kiddies got! With 8 kids and 1 on the way (Patti), the evening was filled with frenetic energy. Lots of crazed running, jumping, shouting, screaming, laughing, and crying….breaking up tug o’ wars over toys, time outs in the bathroom, stepping on crumbs and spilled juice, and wiping sweaty foreheads and running noses all night long. hehehe
Both Ashlyn and Summer had the best time.
Unlike my tight knit group of friends from home (where Sarah and I are the only ones who are moms), my SoCal friends are a comfortable circle who share a similar stage of life. They offer wonderful insight, advice, and support that I really missed.

Tonight, Aric and I finally unpacked the last box from the stuff I brought back. I felt a huge sense of relief and accomplishment. Of course the house will become frighteningly cluttered again tomorrow (when our 20 boxes from Taiwan get delivered)! *YIKES!*
Other random news:
- my dad is doing great after having surgery.
- after an entire week, I finally got to cruise Aric’s new ride. *WOO-HOO!*
- Ashlyn’s sassiness level went up another notch now that she enjoys telling me to “RELAX! ” whenever I scold her. *argh*
- happiness is having my hubby back.

Today was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives…Aric went back to work and I tried to establish a routine for myself and the kiddies. I thought it went pretty well. I managed to accomplish some unpacking, cleaning, and organizing of the house. Settling in continues to be a huge work in progress…but now there’s actually room to walk in the family room. *woo-hoo!*
For the most part, the kiddies kept each other busy with toys and television. It was only until I began to fix dinner that Summer got fussy and cried a lot.
On the phone…
Ed: “What are you guys doing tonight?”
Peg: “I dunno…not much….why?”
Ed: “Taco Tuesdays!!! I heard the kids were getting crazy and I’m sure you didn’t get a chance to cook.”
Peg: *shamelessly boastful* “Yeah, the kids were getting crazy, BUT I still fixed dinner!”
Ed: “Really?! Dang!”
We ended up going out with Ed and Sue for Taco Tuesdays at Taco Mesa in Newport. Because it’s hard to turn down $1 tacos. HAHAHAHA!
At least I don’t have to worry about making lunch tomorrow. Hopefully Aric will also enjoy the meatloaf I packed for his lunch. hehehe
Anyhow, Ashlyn’s adjusting smoothly to sleeping in her own room and Summer is becoming more comfortable with her new surroundings
