Aric picked us up Friday afternoon, after an exhausting 20-hour journey home (Taipei to Narita to San Francisco to LA). I can’t tell you how happy and relieved to have made it back in one piece. Although we had an unforgettable time in Tawian, the flights (to and from) were nightmarish. My best friend’s unexpected visit made for a really warm homecoming. Bett, Chew, Aric, the kiddies, and I had an early dinner at Pat & Oscar’s and hung out at home. My head was kinda buzzing and numb from being so tired, so we called it an early night (little did I know that Summer would be keeping me up till morning with her whacked sleeping schedule).

Saturday, we all woke up around noon and arrived late to
Karis’ birthday party. Nevertheless, it was nice to see/be with all our friends again. We stayed at Sam and Patti’s till pretty late. The kids had a great time and both fell asleep on the way home (once again, Summer woke up around 1am and didn’t go back to bed till 5am!)
Sunday, Summer and I slept in till 2pm. We ran some errands and bought groceries to fill our empty fridge. I did three loads of laundry, finished unpacking, uploaded some pictures, watched TV, and attempted to put the kiddies down to bed.
So that pretty much sums up my weekend. Still working on my trip update (please be patient).

Yeah…so Summer sleeping with Ashlyn didn’t fly. She woke up 15 minutes ALL WIDE AWAKE & BURSTING WITH ENERGY after my last post and stayed up till 5am!!!
Both of us woke up around 2pm today. 3 hours after we got up, it started getting dark again. What a waste of a day.
Regardless of what time she goes down tonight, I’m waking her up at 9am tomorrow. I would have done it today, but I was kinda hurting for sleep as well. *ARGH!* Jetlag sucks!

We’re back safe and sound. We had an amazing trip, and I can’t wait to share stories and pictures with all of you. But I’m seriously dog tired!!! I’ve gotten a total of 19 hours of sleep since Thursday.
Since our return on Friday, it’s been pretty much non-stop.
Ashlyn seems totally unaffected by the jetlag and has adjusted immediately to her normal sleep schedule. Summer, on the other hand, is having a harder time. Keeping me up till the wee hours of the morning and sleeping late into the afternoon.

kiddies in Taiwan
We’re trying something different tonight…we’re letting Summer sleep with Ashlyn. I figure she just got used to sleeping next to her sister on the trip. We’ll see how it goes…I’m keeping my fingers crossed. It’s totally adorable seeing them sleeping together.

Ashlyn in Taiwan- January 2004
We’re all packed and ready to go. Passports…check. Clothes…check. Shoes…check. Toiletries…check. Leapster for Ashlyn…check. Portable DVD player for Summer…check. A valium for Peg…check.
HAHA!…kidding on the last one.
The kiddies and I are leaving tomorrow on a vacation with my parents and Wil to Taiwan. I’m sooooo excited!!! The thought of visiting relatives and friends, eating yummy foods, night-markets, and shopping! *WOO-HOO!*
The only thing I’m dreading is the flight. It will be Summer’s first international flight, and I’m really nervous about it.
She can barely sit still on domestic flights. Aric purchased a portable DVD player
for us in hopes that it will keep her busy/distracted for a while. A friend swore by it, and I’m willing to try anything. I know that 12 hours with a fussy baby can feel like forevers. I keep telling myself that there’s no point in worrying about the unexpected or uncontrollable. But I still do.
Wish me luck.
Aric won’t be joining us since his busy work and school schedule won’t allow for it. But I’m sure he doesn’t mind since he’s had enough of Taiwan to last him a long time.
hehehe I’m just bummed that we’ll be spending Thanksgiving apart.
Posts and pictures will resume when I return. Bye!
