Whoa!…our sick fish has made a full recovery! After five days of antibiotics and being in quarantine, our sick fish’s belly deflated to half the size and it began swimming right side up again. I put the no-longer-ailing fish back into the original tank to rejoin its family.
It’s doing great. If it weren’t for the missing scales (from the “procedure“), I wouldn’t be able to tell the fishes apart.

*breathe and buff nails on shirt* Damn, we’re good….you think Wil and I can become back alley vets?! ![]()

RE: Cyn’s comment~
The antibiotics are in gel form. You drop it into the water and it solidifies and floats (like food). The first few days, the fish had problems getting to it before it dissolved. After that, I started dropping it right above the fish’s mouth. After 5 days of dripping antibiotics into the water, I figured it was getting at least some of it through the water.

i’m so relieved! do the fish have names? this one should be called Lucky - lucky to have you watching over it. Ashlyn’s growing up so fast! My friend lives around you somewhere and mentioned the fire’s just a block away from her. You probably have to prepare to evacuate!

Amy, good idea…we shall start calling the fish “Lucky”.

The other two will be called “Luckier” and “Luckiest” for not having to go through that whole ordeal.
