glenda and peg

Yesterday Glenda, Summer, and I participated in the canned food drive at the OC Fair (free admission with 5 canned goods). The weather was perfect…warm with a nice breeze. A welcomed break from the heat wave we’d been experiencing.
I definitely got a chance to see more of the park this time: even peeking into arts & crafts building, woodwork exhibit, and home & garden exhibit. Glenda and I scoped out ALL of the food vendors/stands before Aric, Ashlyn, Eddy, Ed, and Olivia joined us.

This little piggy had BBQ corn, deep fried artichokes, garlic fries, teriyaki beef & chicken on a stick, a bite of turkey leg, Australian potatoes, cheese-on-a-stick, soft serve ice cream, funnel cake, and kettle corn. *burp*

My kiddies loved the petting zoo and livestock exhibit (total animal lovers). Ashlyn and Summer wanted to ride the ENORMOUS elephant, but with my fear of heights, I asked Aric to take them. Aric said they absolutely loved it…giggling and laughing all the while.

After the elephant ride was over, I noticed Aric touching and patting his butt.
Aric: “are my pants ripped?”
Peg: *looking* “no…I don’t see anything.”
Aric: “I heard a *rip* sound”.
Peg: *closely looking* “no…nothing”

Last night, as I got ready for bed, Aric had left his boxers on the sink counter (to show me) and they were torn in half. HAHAHAHA! Now that’s what I call pants-splitting fun!

In case anyone is interested, next Wednesday (July 26th) is the Book Drive…free admission with a donation of 1 new book or 3 gently used books.

Taken during my last NorCal visit (by my niece, Marisa).

My sister is a dork…because she learned from the best. HAHAHA! When will we ever grow up?!

silly girls

Aside from going to the Orange County Fair on Friday night, we spent most of our weekend hanging with my in-laws and cleaning some serious house.

Now that my brother-in-law is married and life resumed normalcy after his wedding and honeymoon, he and Karen have started moving his stuff out of our house. They spent most of Saturday packing and moving. Aric and I cleaned out our home office, kitchen, upstairs hallway, and garage. I ordered a dumpster and after this weekend, it’s completely full!?? We’re not quite finished yet??so I need to order another one. *ugh*…we have so much junk!

Our Sunday was more of the same. A lot of cleaning, throwing things out, and organizing. By the time the dumpster was full, we called it a day. We picked up a late lunch and headed over to my in-laws. Spent the rest of the day and evening there. The kiddies rode their bikes, played with the dog, had lots of sweets, and enjoyed a hot summer night.

thinking

OC Fair was great! Along with 11 of our friends and their kiddies, we had a really fun time. We ate lots of yummy carnival food and rode many kiddie-rides. The highlight of my girls’ evening was riding a real live pony.??

There’s so much to see, do, and eat at the Fair, but going in such a large group, we moved about slowly (potty breaks, snack stop, and more potty breaks) and probably only covered 30% of the park.?? So we’ll definitely be making another trip out there!?? *YAY!*

sisterly love

Hope you had a good weekend as well!

teacher and students

Yesterday, Lauren, Taylor, Summer, and I spent the day and evening with Patti, Karis, Joshua, Grace, Brandon, and Megan. We had lunch, visited Patti’s workplace (she’s a school teacher), hung out, had dinner, and hung out some more.?? It was really cool seeing Patti’s classroom. The kiddies had fun drawing and utilizing all the art supplies.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to be a school teacher. I’m not sure why I never went that route…but now that I have kids of my own, I don’t think I have what it takes to be a teacher. I’m not patient enough. Spending a day with 2 kids is plenty enough for me, let alone 20+ kids. Although Patti says it’s different when the kids are not your own. True…true. Well, perhaps it’ll be something to consider before I re-enter the workforce.

As I drove Lauren and Taylor home, Lauren surprised me by saying, “I had fun today, Auntie Peggy!” *heart melts*
During Grace’s month-long recovery, the only thing I can do to help my friend is take a couple of her kids off her hands for the day. It was no problem at all and we had a really good time. Tomorrow we’re taking them to the OC Fair…that should be fun!
