HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Glenda!

(March 2002)
Wishing you a day filled with Pooh hugs, Tigger bounces, Hunny Bs, and me...Eeyore!

The weather has been weird lately. Yesterday was hot as heck, then today it was cold and rainy. Luckily it cleared and warmed up by the afternoon. Ashlyn and I went birthday toy-shopping for some of our friend's kids.
Toys are so neat nowadays...I love the Leap Frog line of toys and I can't wait until Ashlyn's old enough to play with them. It incorporates learning with sounds, lights, and interactive buttons. We didn't have stuff like that when I was a kid. I had a lot of stuffed animals (and still do) and some board games. Do you remember The Giggle Stick? It's this plastic tubular thing that made gurgling giggle sounds when you violently shake the stick up and down. I had hours of fun with that thing. My family lived on a tight budget when I was growing up, so we didn't have a lot of toys. Wil and I relied on our creativity when playing. We would hop on my bed and and call it a "boat"....and sometimes I'd purposely fall off and cry, "Help...save me!" then Wil (with her scrawny arms) would have to help pull me up. I'd make it really hard for her too. HAHAHAHA! Hmmm, what else?...we played "school" and "house" a lot or messed around with my parent's stuff in the garage. I also played "mad scientist" by catching bugs and stuff and keeping them in different jars or doing "tests" on them (ie..dropping a slug in a glass with Alka-Seltzer). *Ew!*...ever see green foam? Yeah, I was such a grody lil' girl. =P We rode our bikes all the time and rollerskated. Ahhhhh...the good ol' days!

Anyhow, I bought all the gifts and picked up a bunch of toys for Ashlyn too. That girl wanted EVERYTHING!...she was reaching for everything down every aisle. *shake head*
Glenda met me at the house around 6pm. We chatted a bit while I fed Ashlyn dinner. Then I took Glenda out to dinner at Honda-Ya. It wasn't as busy as I'm used to it being. We took off our shoes and sat in the Tatamie room. We had sushi, sashimi, yakitori, and ordered a bunch of little dishes to share. Ashlyn laid next to me, playing with one of her new toys. Glenda and I sat there for a long time and caught up on eachother's lives. It's been a while since I last seen or talked to her and I was really surprised....no, stunned...that she didn't have tonight already booked. Especially with the many suitors that has to take a number to take her out. We both had a great time...oh, and our waiter was a cutie too! *wink* hehehehe We made it back home in time for "Felicity" and hung out some more while I baked cookies, then she left shortly after Aric got home from school.
