HAPPY BIRTHDAY to T-Wong!
May your birthday be as fun and memorable as the one you had last year!
...you're still wearing the Shin Sen Gumi bandana, right? hehehe
Love and miss you lots!

Today was a nice relaxing day. Ashlyn and I slept in while Aric got ready for school. It was nearly noon when we finally got ourselves out of bed. After Ashlyn was dressed and fed, we went to the market to buy some groceries. I strapped on the Baby Bjorn and we did our shopping.
Ashlyn's getting to be such a big girl. Even though the Baby Bjorn carrier can hold a child up to 33lbs, it felt like Ashlyn was busting out of the thing. She is also getting pretty heavy because my back was killing me toward the end. But she really enjoys sitting in the carrier...it gives her a nice view of everything. As I was pushing the shopping cart, I noticed that Ashlyn had both her hands on the shopping cart handle. She liked "helping" me push the cart. It just got tricky when I needed to grab something and she wouldn't let go of the handle. hehehe
After shopping, I walked over to Tapioca Express for some boba tea. My friend, Virginia (who's in town for a relative's wedding), called me while I was waiting in line. She had some time before dinner to visit me, so I jammed home as soon as I got my drink.

Virginia, Tony, and lil' Matthew came over and hung out for a couple of hours. It was really good to see them again. The last couple of times I saw Virginia (ie...Ivy's shower and wedding), I didn't get a chance to really catch up with her. Virginia and I have known one another through mutual friends as well as worked together for many many years in the SF pageant scene.
I actually knew OF her back in high school (but she didn't know me). Back in the day, the Bay Area chinese community often held activities that brought ALL the chinese schools together for sports day. I remember all the guys ogling over this Virginia-chick. She was the envy of all the young girls. hehehe
Anyhow, it's been ages since we talked. I used to see her every weekend for Roseball and Mr. Asian, BACSAA events, and/or to grab a bite after rehersals...and now I feel somewhat regretful that I had waited until I moved away to fully appreciate our friendship. I hate when that happens.

I had a great time chatting with her and Tony. Our talk mainly revolved around our offspring or just being engrossed in watching our kids play. Lil' Matthew is so cute! He enjoys handing you things, giving kisses, bobbing his head and waving his arms to music, and he can communicate his needs and wants with words and gesture (which is something I'm totally looking forward to)! Okay...I can no longer deny it...Ashlyn is really BIG for her age. I don't consider her unhealthily big...just BIG. She's the same weight as lil' Matthew (who is almost twice her age) and almost the same size as he is. I guess there's no point in worrying about it now. Once she's more mobile, she might slim down a bit. *fingers crossed* I just don't want to be one of those people on "MAURY" going, "Yeah...for breakfast, my daughter eats half a dozen fried eggs, four pieces of toast, a pound of bacon, a half gallon of milk, and a twinkie." =P
Virginia's husband, Tony, is one of those incredibly nice guys. He's always ready to roll up his sleeves to help out in any way. If there are dishes in your sink, he'll wash them. So imagine my embarassment when he was cleaning up a trail of ants around my kitchen sink before he left. I didn't have a trail of ants yesterday...this just happened today! They formed a perfect line from a crack beneath the countertop to the ant bait by the window. I kept telling him to leave it, but he wouldn't listen. Now I have an ant-free countertop. THANKS, Tony. =P

Aric finally got a haircut today. YAY! It must have been all the teasing and 'fro remarks. hehehe After he got back, we cooked dinner together and watched TV. We ended up watching "While You Were Sleeping". I don't care how many times I've seen that movie, I still love it and always cry during Sandra Bullock's monologue during the wedding scene. *sigh* Ashlyn had another runny diaper tonight, so we changed her and I did another load of laundry. Then I took advantage of the fact that Aric was playing with her to work on the wall borders in Ashlyn's room. This project is losing it's momentum, and I'm getting quite impatient. *sigh*
After tucking Ashlyn into bed, which took longer than usual because she was in that playful mood again, Aric and I had time to tend to our own things and talk. I peeked in on SNL with Winona Ryder, and decided to skip it. I normally like her, but as of late, she seems oddly weird and out of it. Drugs?! Hmmmmm.
