For weeks I've been hiding out at home from the sun and heat, and it dawned on me that I'm missing out on summer. I haven't been this pastey white in a really long time. I think Ashlyn's even darker than I am. =P Normally by this time, I'd be sporting the summer glow...unfortunately, the only thing I'm sporting these days is dry skin and a whole lotta ugly bruises. Clumsy me.
So last night I made a list of errands, and this morning I got up ready and prepared to face the warm weather and the great outdoors. After getting Ashlyn dressed, fed, and dropping in a load of laundry, I was flooded with phone call after phone call...and before I knew it, it was late afternoon. The thought of driving through traffic made me postpone my errands for another day. *sigh* Oh well. At least it was nice catching up with peeps I haven't talked to in a while...especially Wil. I haven't talked to her since she left from her visit. It was a comfort hearing her voice. =)

Because Aric had a department dinner with some co-workers from the China office, Ashlyn and I met up with Ed and Sue for dinner. We went to BJ's Pizzeria, but the wait was crazy long...so we left. Sue was craving Italian food, so we headed over to Macaroni Grill (no wait there). We shared Calamari Fritti, and while Ed and Sue both ordered pasta, I opted for a light salad with Salmon crutons. It was yummy!
Afterwards, we went to Target to walk around and shop. I picked up shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, some other beauty products, and a Swifter. I wanted to buy Ashlyn some socks, but got scolded by an employee for trying to open the package for closer inspection. *sheesh!* I didn't think there was anything wrong with making sure the size was right...but I guess Target's being more strict about that now. Hmmmm. So no socks for Ashlyn.
Ashlyn has this bad habit of pulling her socks off. I can't tell you how many socks we have that have lost it's matching pair. =/

HAHAHA!...what a sour face!

Ashlyn and I came home after Target, and Aric came home shortly thereafter. Ashlyn has become quite attached to her Daddy. The minute he walks in the door, her whole face lights up. And if he ducks away to use the bathroom, she'll start to cry...ignoring my constant reassurance that "he'll be right back". Aric spent time with her, gave Ashlyn her last bottle, and tucked her into bed while I finally checked email (our internet connection was down today).

As you can tell, I'm still in a writing-rut. I feel as though the contents of my journals have digressed..not that they were ever stellar...but now it's just plain *yawn* booooooring. Cin had once told me that she prefers reading my thoughts on certain issues or life experiences rather than reading what I did or what I ate. Well when you put it that way, don't I feel pathetic. =T

Alrighty...here's a life experience. I can't guarantee that it's the least bit interesting, but it was, uh...different.
In 1997, I was propositioned for marriage. Not proposed to, but propositioned. A friend of the family offered me twenty grand to marry her son for visa purposes. I can't tell you how cheap that made me feel. Now, if it was fifty grand...nah, just kidding. HAHAHAHA!
What made it worse was that the family friend, whom we've know my entire life, gave me such a guilt trip about it. And since then, our families were never quite the same with one another. I don't know what came of her son, but since he's still living and working here, they must have found him another "wife". I saw the "auntie" at my wedding and she congratulated me and Aric through a fake tight smile. Yeah, whatevers. The End.
Though that story wasn't much, it's one of MANY whacked things that's happend to me.

*yawn*...more sharing another time. The hubby passed out on the couch while patiently waiting for me. Awwwww! =) I gotta drag him up to bed. G'Nite!
