Ashlyn and I flew into San Jose around noon today, and Mom picked us up. We grabbed lunch at 4th Street Diner and spent the rest of the day with my mom while she worked in the office then taught jazz dance to a bunch of energetic folks at the Senior Citizens Center downtown (one of her various volunteer jobs). It was really fun watching them do their warm-up routine to Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It". HAHAHAHA! Ashlyn had a great time watching them too...she often bobbed her head and waved her arms to the music...bringing much joy and laughter to my mom's students. =)

Afterwards we headed home. We stopped off for groceries at a newly opened market nearby. I swear...everytime I visit, something new opens up near my parents house. The surrounding area is constantly being developed and everything is new, nice, and super convenient! Makes me miss it THAT much more. *sigh*

Tonight my family met up for dinner at House of Siam. Traffic downtown was crazy (due to a No Doubt concert at The Compaq Center).
The restaurant was really nice. Wil reserved one of the tatami tables...which requires you to remove your shoes. My dad wasn't thrilled about that, but he was being a really good sport considering the fact that we're some place other than our usual Chinese restaurant. hehehe
Ashlyn thought it was fun to slide underneath the table and run amok amidst our legs and feet. My parents kept trying to pull her out, but she resisted with a hearty shriek. =/ So we just left her under there. *shrug* She spent most of dinner entertaining herself and playing "peek-a-boo" with us.
The food was really tasty. I had a garlic calamari dish to die for. My dad got a seafood pad thai (which he thoroughly enjoyed), Wil got a regular pad thai, Sis ordered the special salmon skewers, and Tony ordered the Angry Beef dish (Mmmm!). My poor mom got this veggie plate that came with a funky sauce. There was some sort of spice or herb that made it taste really perfumey. We all tried it and agreed that it tasted weird. Anyhow, it's one of the nicer Thai restaurants I've been to.

The rest of the evening was spent hanging out with my family at home.
When it came time to change Ashlyn for bed, I was surprised to see so many clumps of dried rice stuck to the bottom her her socks! Boy, it must've been pretty filthy under the table. hehehehe =D

*YAWN* G'nite!
