HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Happy Father's Day to two most important men in my life, my dad and Aric.
I have discovered that they oddly share similar personalities....both quiet (yet confident), patient, wise, strong, hardworking, supportive, loving, and enjoy the simplicities of life. Though the biggest affinity is...both are incredibly wonderful fathers!
Also, a deep gratitude to my father-in-law for making me feel more like a daughter than a daughter-in-law. I am so lucky to have them in my life! =)

Today Aric, Ashlyn, and I slept in. Once we were up, Aric left to get a much needed haircut while Ashlyn and I got ready. By noon, we went over to James and Grace's.

Originally, I wanted to plan an excursion for just the fellas (ie...fishing trip, golf, a day of video-gaming, or movie), but the other gals weren't too keen on the idea. =P
My whole motivation stemmed from last year's Father's Day. Aric, Ashlyn and I happened to be in China at the time, and Father's Day came and went without any fanfare. We missed it completely...and Aric got jipped out of his first Father's Day! I had felt so awful...so this year I wanted to do something special for Aric.

Grace and I had planned a picnic outing in Newport/Balboa Island for our husbands and Daddy-friends.

Nothing went as planned, but we had a great time regardless.

We met up with Ed, Sue, Sam, Patti, Jeff, Genie, and the kiddies for lunch at Islands. Afterwards, we went to Quail Hill to look at model homes.

I've only been to Quail Hill a couple of times with Sonny. The homes we looked at today were further up the hill and WAY more pricey. I was blown away by how many people were scouting for new homes in the area....and even more blown away by their willingness to plop down close to a million for a house! I haven't seen such a huge boom in real estate (and jump in prices) since the Dot-Com wars in Silicon Valley/Bay Area. CRAZY!
We looked at a couple of different builders (Sienna and Tapestry) and half a dozen lavish floorplans.

The weather was equally hot as yesterday. After checking out houses, we went to The Spectrum for smoothies. Next to Jamba Juice, a bunch of kids splashed and played in the water fountains. On a whim, Ashlyn and Lauren joined in. They had a blast!
Needless to say, their clothes got soaking wet. Luckily, I had a change of clothing for Ashlyn in the car.

Tonight, Aric, Ashlyn, and I had dinner at James and Grace's. Grace and I ran to the market and prepped food for Korean BBQ. Dinner was really good, and we had a fun time.
We didn't get home until midnight. Ashlyn was so tired, she fell asleep on the way home. Aric and I are dead-tired, too. The last couple of days have been really draining...running around all day, in the heat, and not getting home until really late. At the end of tonight...
Aric: "I had fun today."
Peg: *smile* "good...you deserve it."

*YAWN!* Must get some sleep. Hope you had a great weekend!
